The plans for the Trek are now set. I have reservations for everywhere I can get them (stupid Crater of the Moon national monument), and the route is fixed at over 4600 miles. Should be a good time.
I've also made a great deal of progress on the move itself -- I have a PO Box for temporary mail receiving until my apartment is available, and I also have made arrangements for all the important utilities (power/gas, phone, DSL). I'm probably going to wait on any sort of TV, I'm really liking the offering of the DirectTivo (with HD) but the HD receiver/dvr is $1000. The monthly service cost, though, is very reasonable compared to cable. At least the cost includes 2 additional standard receivers, so I can put reception into every tv in the apartment.
Only 8 more real days working at CMU (technically its 9, but I'm taking Aug 2 as PTO, or 13 if you count weekends). Things have been busy with training je2i (and to a lesser extent, dariaphoebe) on the ins and outs of the mail system along with assisting with the Qatar installation.
More ranting about the PVGP is promised, but I haven't had time yet. Time to go get a margarita at Mad Mex.
