Flew down to Harris Ranch today for one of my cross-country solos. I almost have all my requirements checked off before I can think about getting my check ride done.
Of course, I need to practice some of the basics a good deal as well still, as well as pick another instructor (I think I have one now though, who seems very easy going and relaxed but also very good).
I picked up some steaks, and then flew back. As the plane flys, it was about 110 miles or so, and about 1.2 hours. As the car drives, it'd be almost 160 miles and much longer. Each way. :) It'd be fun to go down there and eat at the steakhouse sometime, but I wouldn't want to arrive after dark -- the runway is *really* tiny (only 30' wide). Flying back at night would also be interesting, since there isn't much civilization besides I-5 out in the valley.
