Flew from Palo Alto to Mineta San Jose International today to do some touch and gos there. Compared to the flurry of crazed activity going on at PAO, SJC was calm and quiet. I had one entire runway to myself (well, my instructor and I). This is probably because its somewhat intimidating to take a student to a large airport, I guess. Also, landing in a tiny Cessna 172 on one runway while a 737 is landing below and to the left of you on the next runway is quite amusing.

There was a pretty good crosswind today too -- almost 12 knots directly across the runway. I did much better staying down the centerline than the last time I had a good crosswind (of course, I had only just learned to land the previous lesson).

Apparently, all that Ham Radio stuff paid off too, since my instructor seemed surprised at how well I was talking to all the controllers (to go from PAO to SJC you talk to at least 4, possibly 5, different controllers, plus 2 automated reporting systems -- 3-4 of which are all in the space of about 10nm at 100knots or so-- its pretty busy).

I'm told I'll probably be ready to solo soon -- roughly 2-3 weeks or so. Thats sort of frightening.
