Saw Fiddler on the Roof (with Rosie O'Donnell) today. Fiddler was the first musical I ever saw on Broadway back when my family first moved back north.|
I think I liked the first version (with Topol-- but not in the same role as Rosie :) better, but that could just be me misremembering. Rosie didn't quite fit her role properly, and the cast in general couldn't seem to decide between flippant and in some cases downright weak acting and trying to make it a over-serious tragedy.
In any case I thought the lighting was pretty pale and ugly. Even Les Mis had more color-- and they did most of the lighting with the same 6 beam projectors.
