Took my first flying lesson today. Not so much a lesson really as "get up and feel the plane". It was prety fun, we spent an hour on the ground going over general things, then about an hour walking around the airplane on the ground, then took off from Palo Alto, flew around a bit, did a touch-and-go at Half Moon Bay, and flew back to Palo Alto.|
It was pretty easy going and relaxed except for around half moon bay, where the wind coming off the ocean and hitting the hills resulted in quite a bit of turbulance. I also apparently look at the instruments a bit too much (tracking altitude, climb rate, turn coordination, etc is quite enough to keep your hands full).
It was a bunch of fun, and I'll hopefully start taking regular lessons after the new year. Not sure who I'll take them with though, I still have to meet a few more instructors and decide on a flight club...
I know a flight instructor. You can check out his info here
. But he is out of Alameda, which probably isn't what you are looking for. He is a very nice guy though.
Yeah, oakland is a bit of a hike from here, I'm probably looking to do most of my flying out of PAO... (Though if I wind up working with West Valley Flying Club
I'd probably wind up flying out of SQL [San Carlos] as well from time to time).

I used to know some people who flew out of Tucson. It was fun getting rides to Sedona and Phoenix in small planes. Ah, good times.
