Knights of the Old Republic [Jan. 30th, 2005|10:07 pm]

I beat Knights of the Old Republic today. About 33 hours total. I haven't played many video games all the way through to the end, but this one really impressed me -- the world was large, complex, and immersive, and the story was relatively interesting. I'm looking forward to playing it again with a different type of character (I was impressed that this game actually gets the "role playing" part of RPGs sort of correct -- first time I'd seen that in a video game).

My one dissapointment is that despite my efforts to play a neutral character, there does hit a spot in the game where you have to choose to be, essentially, "pure good" or "pure evil" which was sort of dissapointing.

In any case, it is recommended if you have lots of hours to burn :)

Role playing.

Another game that gets the "role playing" part of RPGs right is "Planescape: Torment".

It's pretty old at this point, so it should run on any old PC you can lay your hands on. And it's completely worth it.
